Gemini app: create and edit files in chat Docs-only
Gemini can now make a Doc, Sheet, deck or PDF and let you edit it right in the chat
Good for: Turning a chat into a finished document, spreadsheet or deck without paying for an AI plan.
Google says the Gemini app can now create, preview and edit files inside the conversation: Docs, Sheets and slide decks you can export to Google Slides, PowerPoint or PDF, plus PDFs (web and mobile) and Markdown, text and code files (web). Google says it is available to all Gemini app users, so this is the cheapest way this week to get an AI-made first draft you can actually edit.
Watch out: Google's post does not give per-plan usage limits. Some file types are web-only. We have not tested output quality.
Released Oct 29, 2026 · All Gemini app users, in every Gemini language, per Google
Official announcement · Google Workspace Updates (Oct 2026)

Canva Brush Docs-only
Canva's new AI edits the design you already have, across every page
Good for: Restyling a finished deck, flyer or post, or remixing it into other formats, while keeping it editable.
Brush is a vision-language model that works on existing designs: change the style, apply a change across a multi-page deck, or remix a design for another format, and the result stays fully editable. Pick 'Brush' in the Canva AI menu. Canva says it is up to 69% faster and 46% cheaper per edit than its previous agent.
Watch out: Speed and cost figures are Canva's internal tests. Pro only for now, and Brand Kit support has not arrived yet.
Released Oct 29, 2026 · Canva Pro now; Canva says wider availability is coming soon

Press a key, speak, and Granola writes clean, punctuated text into whatever app you're in. Granola says it is free for all users with unlimited words, and that it uses the names and jargon from your meetings to spell things correctly.
Watch out: Mac only; Granola says Windows, iOS and Android are coming soon. We have not checked accuracy or what audio Granola keeps.

Work Mode builds a pre-meeting brief from past conversations and connected files such as Google Drive. After the call it drafts follow-up emails, proposals and CRM updates for you to review and send. Live Assist adds private, real-time tips during Zoom, Teams and Meet calls.
Watch out: Work Mode needs a paid plan, and Live Assist is Enterprise-only for now. Review every draft before it goes to a client.

Apple added five languages to the AI version of Siri, which was English-only. For Canadians, French support is the news. It comes free with a supported device and update.

Local Code by Draw Things Docs-only Agent
A free, private AI agent that runs entirely on your Mac
Good for: Mac owners who want an AI helper for slides, spreadsheets and Mail without sending files to the cloud.
Local Code runs open models on your own Mac, so prompts and files stay on the machine. Draw Things says it can make slides and images, update spreadsheets and Office files, browse and fill in websites, and work with Photos, Messages, Mail, Notes and Calendar with your permission. The whole app is open source.
Watch out: You need a powerful Mac: the smallest model needs 16 GB of RAM, and the largest needs 64 GB or more. Local models are less capable than top cloud ones. Brand new, so expect rough edges.
